Research and Methodology Seminar in Legal English, English Applied to Political Science for Paris 2 doctoral students and confirmed researchers.
Tous les lundis de 10h50-12h20
This seminar first introduces attendants who are working on European and/or international issues to the legal and political institutions of the UK, the US and the European Union. We then move on to methodological approaches: how best to carry out fieldwork in France and abroad, design a problematic, devise outlines and organize fieldwork and writing. We then enter the final stage of the seminar, i.e. each student presents their own research. The student first does so in writing, and more importantly before the group orally. The objective here is to familiarize them with presenting their work in English as if they were at an international conference. Each exposé is filmed and following each presentation, all students are requested to constructively criticize the hypotheses of the speaker and comment on the speaker’s strong and weak points of the filmed talk. Last but not least, another important part of the seminar is training the students to write and submit articles to peer-reviewed international journals. All research projects are written and corrected. At the end of the two-year program, each student is delivered a Certificate based on the criteria established by the European Council for the mastery of foreign languages (6 required skills):http://www.coe.int/fr/web/common-european-framework-reference-languages/home – http://eduscol.education.fr/cid45678/cadre-europeen-commun-de-reference.html
